I got out, briefly, in the improved weather both afternoons to run a few simple errands but I still retreated to my computer both days, being well and truely caught up in my genealogy searches. I probably should have gone back out for the Social Moot Wednesday but I wasn't attending to the clock and missed 'time to go in time' and got caught up, too, in a couple television series I've been following. I've been enjoying "Auction Hunters" and "Auction Wars" when I encounter them and they've started a new season.
THURSDAY
Today, after warning Leofwyna what was in store, I started emptying my bedroom into the living room. I figure the mess will last a couple weeks as I gradually deal with the mass... mess... either applies. I'll take a break from it to go to Clothiers with Sash next week but hope to be nearly done before I go, maybe, to Bobbin' and Weavin'. I need to leave the living room as tidy at the end of February as it now is so Leofwyna can do a couple supper parties she has in mind.
Upon going out to get very necessary Pepsi I found 'managers special' beef so I got lots (3 pkg under 2 lbs ea) of really nice lean roast to put in the crockpot with coconut milk and peanut sauce. Supper tonight and plenty of leftovers this weekend are going to be really good eats.

Bagged up dross and loaded it in the van (three bags). Packed up camp clothes in totes and returned them to the stack in my room. Took advantage of the relatively mild temperatures and mowed the entire lawn a day early; it's supposed to get hotter tomorrow. Took a bag of cardboard to recycling. I'm beat and therefore taking it easy this evening. One day left to tidy up the public areas for Leofwyna's return home; oh, and I must get my bed cleared off for tomorrow night.

I reduced the linen cutters down to a single tote, then reduced the broomstick skirts and ME fabrics down to another single tote. Haven't touched the stuff on my bed yet but some little progress IS being made. One sofa and the coffee table is cleared. Had to leave the mess though and go to Moot but got back home quicker than I'd planned as it was raining when we came out of the library. I quickly got soaked to the skin so I skipped supper with the gang as our restaurant tends to run their air chilly. On the way home I drove out of the rain and the late sun broke through before setting. RAINBOW, a nice full arch in the southeast! After eating my supper I bagged up cotton cutters downstairs while I watched my Next Food Network Star.

I saw Toni out watering her garden and since I'd not seen much of her this summer I strolled over for a visit. Her garden sure looks a lot better than mine does but it's only her second year and she says she's still learning. Ended up telling her about Organic Gardening Magazine, shared compost info and compared broccoli progress. Her broccoli hasn't buttoned up yet so I harvested mine and gave her a batch. With Leofwyna gone I haven't been able to keep up with it.
With thunderstorms threatening today I put off dealing with the garage and emptied my bedroom into the living room instead. I'm busily sorting lots and lots of that stuff so I can pack it up to go either downstairs to keep/use or for this fall's rummage sale.
The storm this evening came on like a freight train (very vigerous and noisy) and dumped really heavy rain. That seriously effects garden work for the next couple days anyway.

Got sunshade canvas and poles, tub of ropes and spikes, tub of camp carpet, etcetra loaded up and ready to go for tomorrow in spite of the rainy day. While watching the weather channel weekend predictions shifted back and forth regarding the weather clearing or scattered thunder showers. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping for a nice day.
Sash wants movement and color so this evening I hemmed a couple remnant pieces of lining for banners Saturday. I'd found three slim bamboo poles in my garden supplies that we can use for banner poles before they go back for beanpoles this summer.
FRIDAY
Picked up Sash mid-afternoon to head out to JAV to set up for the faire tomorrow. We had a real nice turnout all afternoon so the division of labor wasn't too bad. As part of the early crew I helped raise... what? About five sunshades. A follow up crew [more men] arrived and dealt with two big pavillions. And another couple guys arrived in time to help put up the 'kitchen' tent. All that's left to set up tomorrow morning is the 'bumblebee' Saxon A-frame and the exhibits. Not to bad at all.
After I dropped the baron off I swung through behind the mall and found a nice, clean [really big] pallet which I managed to wrestle into the van and take home... wrestling it out and into the garage alone, too. We'll be outloading the downstairs storage room into the garage, onto the pallets. Then we'll set up the guest bedroom and sewing room and start sorting the boxes out one-by-one and putting away what we'll keep and pricing for rummage sale the rest. By fall after a September rummage we should have everything all nice and tidy at home. My bedroom will be getting some of this treatment too (it really needs it) and I'll finally be able, then, to get into some real, creative quilting again.
When I finally settled in downstairs tonight I found a note Leofwyna left for me there. We get Maggie from The Cat House... either Sunday or Tuesday I'll pick her up. Open hours are rather tight so we have to wait for 'em, then kitty love returns to The Wee Bluet!

Leofwyna got put on call so we watched the CDs I found awhile back of Studio Sixty. What an excellent series that was... too bad it got cancelled too soon.
SUNDAY
Leofwyna got up early today so we could visit The Cat House. We put our names in to be reviewed against the time we find the cat/cats we want. We visited with various kitties while there and think maybe Maggie would suit us. We're waiting to hear back that we're acceptable. We also stopped in at the Animal Shelter but it was too late to see anything so we'll check back another day.
Back at home we did some work in the garage putting things up and away, sweeping out and it's beginning to look much better. I'll be able to get to things to load up for JAV this week.
MONDAY
Leofwyna wanted to go up to Omaha to the Thrift Worlds today. We found five cloche which I immediately grabbed since we NEVER see these and I've been using the one I have in the garden this year on one squash plant and really like how it works. Also found a dehydrater, a maple doll bed, an oak spool holder and various other odds and ends. We both felt we had good results. We also naturally hit Thai Pepper for lunch and Cheesecake Factory for supper, yummy!
Back at home going through emails found a brother/sister 5-y-o pair of cats on freecycle. We're in contact to consider them and be considered.

This morning when I got up Leofwyna was out for a work meeting so I was able to do some cleaning up while I was freshly energetic but still somewhat sleep-zombied which is best for me to accomplish this sort of thing.
The weather is clearing nicely but motivation is absent this afternoon. I did manage to find a few leads and send resumes out... three with the university and one at a diesel service north of town. The bank statement finally showed up today... nearly a week later than usual... so I dealt with paperwork and balancing the checkbook. It was fighting me this month.
Leofwyna headed out for household tonight but I stayed home. I spent some of the time cutting some more of the batiste blends for 'cuddle' quilts. When Leofwyna got home I helped her get up a second shelf in the garage to put her camp-bed rails up off the floor. Actually the storage on the back wall of the garage is looking really good with all the new shelving she's put in there.

It rained through the morning and well into the afternoon. A good day to stay in and play in the internet and then play with the fabric scraps some more.
WEDNESDAY
Danger, danger... caught a horrendous computer virus... too late in the day apparently to reach the office that can deal with the problem.
THURSDAY
Spent hours attempting to contact, contacting and then waiting for the cleaning up process but finally about 6pm I was able to get back on the computer. It was a dreadful experience... however did I used to manage without it? Anyway, I finally was able to work on the Runstaff and get it sent out to Gyda for printing, whew!
FRIDAY
When the sun broke through this afternoon I went out to deal with a list of errands I'd accumulated this week. Returned an overdue book and extended an audiobook at the library; picked up my prescription [ouch - the new insurance doesn't pick up much of that bill]; stopped in at the mechanic 'cause the car is running rough again [still?] and made an appointment for a diagnostic test Monday; and stopped in for Goodwill's 99-cent sales but didn't find much [just a couple cotton shirts and two demi-bushel baskets].
Back at home I pulled a box out of storage and sorted through some geneology notebooks and wiped down the cover of my Rector book with clorox/water to remove potential mildew. That's something else I want to get back into once we have the house whipped back into shape. Meanwhile I put most of it back in a fresh box back in storage.
Tonight a great black cloud rolled through with immense lightning displays... I spent a good deal of time watching the show.

I got into the garage awhile this afternoon and started sorting stuff onto the new shelves. The high shelf over the window is just right for the five empty ice chests. The four shelving units Leofwyna picked up at Walmart a couple years ago fit along the north wall, two on either side of the window there, and will hold camping, gardening and grilling things conveniently.
The Halftroll and I got the oldest compost pile emptied and sifted onto the four cleared veggie beds and the compost turned in. I shifted some of the leaves off the top of the neighboring pile into the empty one and with his help got the winter compost bucket dumped over... phew!!! At that it was time to stop and wash off the stink... we called it a day and he went off to find his supper.

The Halftroll called off today's garden session and postponed it to Tuesday. I can't say I'm sorry as I'm feeling exceedingly stiff myself. I spent the day alternating between the computer and sewing the 'spiral' blocks I found pieces for in the scrap box. Leofwyna treated me to supper at Valentino's this evening.
MONDAY
I made Leofwyna's run to the post office to send off her registered letter. After she got up and left for other errands I got two-thirds of the lawn mown. I wanted to get something done from the to do list that would leave enough energy available for tomorrow's garden session. After digging through several dozen boxes in the storage room I found a couple pieces of fabric perfect to make inner borders to zip up the log cabin top I've been putting together. I also had to break out enough more fabric bits to extend the pieced border another foot or two and made four more log cabin blocks for the corners. This turned out to be a really handsome full-to-queen size quilt top and I look forward to quilting it up... someday. I also found the tote that has some previously made quilt tops, including the pink sunburst top which was the last one I pieced more than 3 years ago.
MONDAY
When Leofwyna got up today we went out and spent a couple hours in the garage shifting stuff so we could remove the old shelves from the north wall. We want to get the nice shelves put up there and get the garage reorganized this spring. I'm planning on reusing the good brackets to put one long shelf back on the wall, above the window, to put the ice chests on. They're lightweight and this will keep them up out of the way.
While I was going through boxes the other day I ran across a quilt scrap box and today I started putting some four-patches in it together with a cute vintage fabric as alternate blocks. The vintage fabric is an odd dusty dark turquoise with chartreause and pink kids playing with balloons. I made these four-patches years ago before the foundation work was done so it feels good to be putting this together finally. Leofwyna has commented that she's glad to see me doing this again, too.
TUESDAY
I made a quick run to the grocery store for bread and Pepsi I found a lovely pork roast (manager's special) for Thursday. The car is idling very roughly and is being 'herky' so I call the mechanic for an appointment; looks like a predicted maintenance will take place a month earlier than predicted.
WEDNESDAY
The car was behaving itself just fine today while I hit the thrift stores and headed across town to A&S. I found a nice rose wool blanket, a cordial bottle, a cookbook and VCR tapes of Anna of Avonlea among other odds and ends.
I found candied orange peel in the clearance basket at IGA yesterday. Mmm, I want to make orange walnut cookies this weekend. The cookbook I found has a recipe I lost thirty years ago so I will be making chewy walnut bars sometime soon. Leofwyna has pointed out I still have a canister of crystalized ginger in the pantry to use in quickbread. I definitely see some baking in my future.
I've been piecing some more four-patches from the loose scraps to go along with the remaining four-patches for a future project. I also started piecing bits and strings too small to get decent squares from primarily to get said bits under control.
THURSDAY
I got up briskly this morning in order to take the car to the mechanic to check into this engine check light and the 'herkiness'. Found it's the plugs and wires so I've got an appointment to go back tomorrow to deal with it.
I looked for fabric to border the not-quite-big-enough quilt-top with the dusty dark turquoise vintage fabric and found something perfect to finish it with. I'd thought it would be a lot-lot-lot harder to find something suitable.
Back at home I put the pork in the crockpot with a couple ribs of celery, a clementine (peel and flesh) and several peppercorns. I'll add potatoes and carrots later this afternoon.
This evening I got the borders on the four-patch quilt top and it turned out really great. I also made up the binding for both this top and the log cabin top just to make sure I don't accidently use up that fabric in some other project before this one is completed. These things sometimes happens ya'know.
