Up, wide awake at 8, and out for lunch, then to the library for a few sessions on the computer. Home early, thinking about dealing with Cassie, but no Leofwyna so went downstairs to work on Triple Threat until she came home. She baked her shortbread for Saturday then after supper we laid Cassie in the Lily of the Valley bed. Back downstairs for more Tripple Threat until bedtime.
Up and out for lunch then across town to the library for a few sessions before meeting. After meeting Leofwyna headed straight home as she said Cassie hadn't been feeling well today. I skipped supper with the others at Slim Picken's but did stop at Chili's before going home. Found Cassie was failing and Leofwyna cuddled her until her fierce heart finally allowed her to heed Bast's summons at 2:35am. It was a long 'evening' for us.
8:20... a pretty day. Put away weekend purchases... still amazed the size I'm getting into these days. Out for lunch and thrift store. Not enough energy today to do all I wanted. Did pull the 22s out of the winter side of the closet to sort and pass on to Leofwyna and Cera. On the computer for the rest of the afternoon, canasta after supper (Leofwyna trounced me) and downstairs where I discovered Cassie had wet the chicken top so had to soak it with PineSol. Can't lay it outside though as rain is predicted.
9:45... a grey day but no precipitation yet. Found Leofwyna sleeping on the sofa; apparently Cassie baptised her bed sometime yesterday. On computer upstairs in the afternoon while Leofwyna ran errands in sprinkles; the rain started about time she came home. After supper downstairs working some more of crib quilt alterations while watching Stargate episodes on Netflix.

Aug. 29th, 2016 12:07 amWednesday up at ten to head out to Weeping Water to pick up the keys for the weekend as the seneschal has booked her time pretty heavily today and can use the help. She took the cat to the vet for shots this afternoon. Wednesday and Thuirsday evenings I concentrated on getting Leofwyna's Choli made and trimmed. I think it turned out great. At the last minute we remembered she needed an aline petticoat too so I whipped that up real fast Thursday night. Friday when Leofwyna headed out to Weeping Water for the Cattle Raids set-up I made 7.5 dozen banana muffins for Saturday morning breakfast, loaded up and drove out to Weeping Water myself at 11 pm. I sat 'gate' from 10-2 as my contribution to the day. Court was long but lots of well deserved awards were presented. After feast (which I skipped myself) I headed up the kitchen clean-up. Sigtrigg was there in his traditional position, washing dishes, pots and pans. All in all it was a long but very satisfying day. Sunday was site clean-up before coming home and getting the lawn mowed... in a hurry because we thought it was going to rain but turned out it didn't. I'm totally beat and procrastinating the packing and loading for Colorado.

Dec. 31st, 2012 08:14 amSunday I went home to feed our cats morning and evening. Leofwyna rode with me Sunday evening just to get out and to give Cassie a little attention; Cassie has proven to be Leofwyna's kitty wholeheartedly. Sunday afternoon I made a run to the fabric store to get more graph template and a flat acrylic ruler as the rotary ruler was making line accuracy difficult. I also stopped in at Barnes and Noble and found Nadelstern's new 'workbook' and got it since I still haven't found my copy of her first book and the library doesn't have it to borrow. I'll have to request it on an interlibrary loan or FIND MINE! Another run was made to get KFC for supper. All this driving means I need to fill the gas tank again real soon

[I'm attaching Leofwyna's Holiday letter here.]
The end of the year got pretty hectic so I never got any Christmas cards out so please accept this missive with our apologies and our best wishes for a great New Year!
Why so busy?...well. we're short-staffed at work so there were mandatory extra shifts in addition to a mini baby boom as well as the initiation of a new computer charting program this fall at the hospital.. Any one of which were enough to be crazy making.
On the home front we are in the middle of a huge remodel of the entire first floor. We replaced the front window with a bay window, put in engineered wood floors, new counter top, sinks and backsplashes in kitchen and bath, took out the divider between the living room and dining room and painted everything. It was supposed to be done before Thanksgiving but I'm getting old and haven't been moving as fast as I used to think I did. We're trying to do as much of it as we can ourselves-demo, removal of old doors and frames, plastering and painting. We're getting pretty good with power tools. Here's a mental picture for you--imagine a VERY large reciprocating saw in our hands. I felt like the Terminater or something! Anyway, I hope when its done it turns out looking as good as it does in my head.
I had foot surgery on the 28th, planned at the last minute when they announced a major change in our insurance benefit package for 2013. If I had waited til spring like I planned it would have cost me a lot more out of pocket plus a major chunk of my vacation time. So I managed to get in just under the wire. Doc surprised me by doing a a hammertoe on both feet instead of just the right foot but I've had very little discomfort so I feel like I'm on a six week vacation off of work.
The timing was serendipitous because Etienette was dog and house sitting at a beautiful house at Pine Lake south of town.and I stayed there with her the first 5 days after the surgery. The house is amazing-right on the lake with 3 fireplaces and a collection of 21 original Sundsimo watercolor paintings. I felt like I was at some ritzy lakeside resort!
We didn't travel much this year. Took a long weekend to camp at Monroe State Park in Missouri in May, which was so relaxing. We jetted(sic) to Des Moines in September when we heard that the American Quilt Society Quilt Show was there. We both loved the additional exhibition of Japanese quilts they had.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
Love, the Sisters
And another week slips away...
Apr. 15th, 2011 12:55 pm...without a single post. I'm so bad.
I've spent an inordinate amount of time in genealogy mode. I haven't made any 'exciting' finds but continue building and refining what I already have; looking for available documentation can be a tedious process.
We've been out doing yardwork a couple times as weather and Leofwyna's schedule allows. I got the potatoes into one bed but the second was still too damp and 'heavy'. I need to deal with compost to make it sweet... and build the three replacement veggie beds for all the rest of it. I wish my scheme for helpful labor had worked out but I'll push on through some how myself as I really need to be contributing more around here.
We brought Casey/Cassie home last work. She is NOT interested in becoming friends with Maggie. Maggie patiently and bewilderedly awaits an attitude adjustment. Cassie hisses and growls and mutters. Maggie doesn't back down but she doesn't reciprocate either so it's 99 percent Cassie's issues. At least they don't launch at each other. We're all trying to be patient with Cassie in hopes she will eventually adjust. She does, at least, dote on Leofwyna and accepts me. She wants our attention even as she continues her complaints at Maggie.
I haven't done much of anything with the rummage sorting and putting stuff away. Spring is already here and dealing with garden and events planning has begun with the accompanying deadlines. I've got pennants, handpies, jerky and sunshades taking high places on my to do lists now. The rummage sale is being slid back to next fall. In May we have JAV and Crown Tourney and then in June there's Lilies. In July Leofwyna's household is camping out at Niobrara and we'll extend the trip a few days to go out ahead and get the 'good place' we had last year. Then, of course, there's Cattle Raids in August. That leaves September for the rummage sale.
Oh, and Leofwyna had the great idea to sign me up for the scrapbooking weekend she's going to in May. I've got a book and some paper and I need to find my photos and some cha-chis but I am NOT going to get deeply into this as I prefer quilting. Leafwyna thinks I'll have the same problem with scrapbooking that she had with quilting but I'm made of sterner stuff than that. I just need to prove it to her.

Apr. 7th, 2011 02:43 pmTUESDAY
I popped in and out of a few thrift stores and found a jigsaw puzzle, a couple Y bags for the vacuum cleaner, a couple cotton cutter shirts and a couple blank journal books. Back at home I continued the garb sort to prepare for Lilies.
WEDNESDAY
Was poking through a few piles and rearranging them. Still looking for the red linen both upstairs and down; and trying to clear the center section of the west wall unit downstairs for Leofwyna to use for her scrapbooking supplies. Also set up a new 'nesting' place for Maggie in the west wall unit since this project destroyed her previous place. I was interrupted by an individual ringing the doorbell to promote a switch from cable to their company for our television and while upstairs/outside remembered the storm window which needed to be fixed. When I had that done I realied I hadn't set the television recording for the evening (was already half an hour late) and was missing A&S - poetry (was an hour late). I set the recorder for the rest of the evening programs but was too late to catch up with the A&S group so I settled for stopping in at Sash's with his birthday present before heading off to supper.
Back at home Leofwyna had brought the new kitty, Cassie, home and settled her in upstairs. Cassie is a black and orange calico and has a vocabulary that makes me think she may have some Siamese blood. She's very interested in human contact and doesn't seem the least bit shy of us. However, neither Cassie nor Maggie seems to have any interest in the other... no patti-paws going on at the door between kitchen and basement stairs, not even any sniffing or hass-ing. Integration may take longer than planned if they're not communicating at all.
