11:20...cloudy and grey with light snow falling. Out for lunch. Happy Birthday to me; Leofwyna gave me a fan/light for my fixture in the sewing room downstairs AND a box of marzipan. We headed out for our movie, Aquaman, the Lost Kingdom, than home for the second round of Lobster Rolls for supper.
Up by noon and downstairs for a slow start and an afternoon of genealogy. It's Leofwyna's birthday and I baked a cake and baked a salmon flank for a special supper. After supper I beat her at Canasta and later at the sewing table I stitched up some more masks for us. Right now there's eight to put near the front door to grab when we're going out and one hanging on the door for Gerald to pick up in the morning.

Dec. 28th, 2019 02:15 amFriday up and out with Leofwyna to Omaha to celebrate my birthday; started with Pla's for lunch, then on to several thrift stores including the Wearhouse. I found a Rowenta Iron at the Wearhouse to try ($2) and a nice pinwheel quilt ($10) at Thrift World that I'll replace the poorly done binding then see if I can sell it or end up using it myself. The rain held off all day until we were picking up our hamburgers in Havelock so we only got a little wet getting into the house. Back home at the sewing table I finished the third blend top for Aurora by alternating the leftover strippie pieces with whole cloth strips in a black/white print Boston Commons style. Turned out looking really nice and I have only a little pile of scrap left to set aside for the next time.
NOTE: Turns out the Rowenta heats up okay but won't stay on during usage; discarded it.

May. 11th, 2019 02:14 pmWednesday (overcast) woke late after having trouble falling asleep a second night. Found that this time my votes counted! Headed out mid-afternoon for a late lunch and library time. Skipped supper with the group following moot as they went to Carlos O'Kelly's. At the sewing table I'm assembling the little wonky stars.
Thursday we went to Omaha for Leofwyna's birthday. I treated her to lunch at Pla's and supper at Cheesecake Factory. Between times we hit many thrift stores and despite my intentions to limit purchases I came away with inkle threads in purple and gold, a transferware saucer, a crossword puzzle book and a few cotton cutters. Back home at the sewing table more little wonky stars were assembled.

May. 10th, 2018 01:36 amWednesday Leofwyna woke when I showered so I was able to say Happy Birthday before I headed out to lunch and genealogy at the library. She went back to sleep awhile. I tried to stop for a haircut but they've moved and I need to find the new place. Before going to moot I stopped in at the animal shelter again. There were three possibles and they were being shown, but none were perfect so I wasn't stressed. New people at moot tonight and some of them came to supper with us at Ranch House on Apple. I bought Leofwyna's birthday supper there. Back at home I got the second 2017 sniglet top nearly finished. Just needs the final one-inch border.

May. 10th, 2016 11:41 amMonday was Leofwyna's birthday so we drove up to Omaha where Pla Too's for lunch and an afternoon at the Henry Doorley Zoo and Imax were my treats for her. It was an overcast day and the rain came in while we were in the Imax but the temps were fine and we had a good day. The zoo closed at six so we hit a couple Thrift Worlds before going to The Cheesecake Factory for supper. We love the lettuce wraps there. A rainbow sprouted out of Leofwyna's head... she was sitting in front of a window and it was a gloreously high and wide double rainbow for her birthday. During the drive up and back she started a review of all our trips through the years... beginning with travels with the folks when we were kids. We've been very fortunate in being able to see so much. We're always ready for more and are planning for future trips. Back home at the sewing table I continued cutting solid strips. We learned the storm here in Lincoln was much worst than Omaha. There was a funnel cloud in SE Lincoln that didn't touch down but brought some baseball-sized hail. There's areas in town with roads closed due to flooding. We're pleased that the gutter noodles are doing their job. We found no sign of moisture anywhere inside.
Thursday-Friday
Dec. 27th, 2014 04:37 amChristmas day we spent a quiet time together. I made a very successful turkey soup for supper. We spent the evening with television and I trued up the quilt blocks. At the end of the evening she was gone again dog-sitting. Friday Leofwyna came over to begin my birthday We had some of the good turkey soup and I opened my presents which included some Nadelstern fabric, a garden book and a flannel sheet set, a nice haul. We spent the afternoon going to each Goodwill for the 99-cent sales and I had some very good luck there, too. Adding several cotton cutters, a lovely white top, a couple wide mouth pints and a half-sized pressure cooker for the camper. I also found a heavy shallow pan for Ingaborg's request; I hope it will be suitable for her purpose. After seeing to Sammy we went to Tico's for supper and then to see Big Hero 6. Disney has given us a charming, fresh morality story!!!

May. 10th, 2014 11:27 amThe surprise for Leofwyna's birthday was a total success in spite of the waiter as he was leading us to the table..."You may recognize some people here." But I successfully put together a birthday that left her feeling good about this BIG birthday

Dec. 27th, 2012 08:59 pmWednesday up and out to meet with Chris about the house/dog sitting that starts tomorrow. Was shown around her beautiful home, met the dogs and cat, read through the instruction list and learned where their food and treats were. Was even set up with a computer and shown how the tv remotes worked. This should be an easy and pleasurable job.
Wednesday evening when Leofwyna got up we headed out for supper at Ticos and a movie (for my birthday, y'know) and we went to see The Hobbit which we had been keenly anticipating. We were surprised to find Dwolm and his family there so we got some great hugs all 'round. Leofwyna got us hot fudge shakes on the way home to give us strength for the opening of many prezzies. I really surprised her with the three framed topiary prints she was regretting passing up. And she really surprised me with some really astute discount purchases of a tablet and an led flat screen tv. So much for sticking to stocking gifts since we'd been putting so much into the house renovation.
Thursday morning I boosted out of bed early to go feed and walk the Tse Tsus. I spent the afternoon back at home finding and loading up the stuff to work on a Nadelstern project while housesitting. I'm looking forward to getting back into this. Some of the fabrics haven't been prepped yet so I'll be washing and ironing some tonight.

Aug. 13th, 2012 12:29 pmOn our way home from the movie Friday I told Leofwyna about my plans for Sunday's surprise supper (I had bought crablegs) including finally getting her birthday cake made; she had requested German chocolate cake which for many reasons hadn't been accomplished. All weekend I hoarded the ground cherries to include in Sunday's supper. Friday Leofwyna heard from the bank and the renovation is ON!!! Friday and Saturday I spent a great deal of time finally finishing the 13th Century, I am now IN the 12th Century. I finally got the tent in the garage folded up and stuffed in it's bag. The Roma tomato plant has been removed from the garden; every two out of three tomatoes from this plant has end-rot and the plant is yellowing. It needed to be out before infecting the other plants and it will not end up in the compost. Saturday the car showed a check engine light so I must call 24hr first thing Monday to deal with that.

May. 14th, 2011 12:00 amTonight I finally got the car unloaded from Herdmaster which was nearly two weeks ago. Yes I've been procrastinating again. Twelve more days are gone by with more genealogy being run through the gristmill. It may well take all of this year and perhaps another one as well to do a thorough sort through what Ancestry.com has available that applies and I'm not even subscribing to the International format.
Isadora joined us when we spent Leofwyna's birthday going up to Omaha to hit all the World Thrift stores and to have her birthday lunch at Thai Pepper. We tried the Salmon entree for a change... it was terrific. I think that will be a new favorite. I found a pair of Keds and four tops so I was pleased. We finished off the day by going to the movie, THOR, which was okay. That's not one of the Marvel comics I ever followed so it kinda fell flat for me.
The scrapbooking day Leofwyna signed us up for was productive for me. I got ten pages mostly assembled. I only need to do the lettering and journalling for them now. I also got to learn how to run the Cricut that day so I can deal with that during the daytime when Leofwyna is sleeping. I'll save that for later this summer though. Hopefully by then more photos will surface... I know they're around somewhere.
Right now things are piling up for JAV, Lilies and July's trip, besides yardwork and the veggie beds. I need to create a list and schedule so I know better what I need to have acomplished when; I don't trust myself to just do it without some organization as the computer always beckons. There's also Cattle Raids in August and a rummage sale in September to be ready for as well.
The past two days we had some pretty impressive weather blow through with lots of warnings and watches but fortunately all we had here was some wind and rain. This spring has been odd, I don't usually mow until it turns over to May and I had to mow twice in April. It's already looking like the fourth mowing is due when it's dry enough again. A rather iffy prospect according to the weather man... maybe Sunday or Monday... and it'll be pretty tall by then.

May. 10th, 2010 12:35 pmSUNDAY
I started off Leofwyna's bday with a midnight phonecall to work so she knew from the very beginning that it wasn't forgotten this year. If I wait until evening when she wakes up she feels forgotten and I wanted to avoid that for a change. With that phonecall we firmed up plans for a movie (How to Train a Dragon) and dinner after.
I spent my afternoon with a trip to Goodwill for the 'traveling sale' and found a great pair of walking shoes and a couple cutter shirts. Finally at six I woke Leofwyna up with song and her present... yards of a fabric she'd talked herself out of a couple months ago and the pattern for a nice two piece dress... with a promise to make it up for her cruise this summer. The movie was great... really funny and cute.

Dec. 29th, 2009 04:48 pmSATURDAY
Being thoroughly snowed in we decided to make my birthday celebration somewhat simpler than planned. Leofwyna made a lovely supper from the freezer... bbq ribs and noodle cassarole. The cookies and the puzzle we'd found recently in Omaha completed a very pleasant evening's entertainment.
SUNDAY
When Leofwyna rolled out of bed this afternoon we headed outside to dig everything out. I ran the snowblower on the driveway and sidewalks. Leofwyna dug out the graded end of the drive and sidewalks then enlisted the neighbor, Marty, to go pull my car out of the snowbank. We ended up the day doing another jigsaw puzzle (a borderless one, yerch!).
MONDAY
I've spent too many days housebound. Going out to deal with the snow does NOT count. I took the opportunity to leave the house today to go to the library and pick up my prescription. Tonight Leofwyna and I put together a third jigsaw puzzle: perhaps we should put these away again and get something real done.
TUESDAY
Last night I dreampt I was sick and woke up this morning with a miserable cough, sore throat and rales. Bleh!

We had a beautiful day for Spring Fling and Leofwyna's birthday. We got to visit with lots of folks and I spent considerable time embroidering on the banner in the process. His excellency, my baron, is positive the banner will be ready for Cattle Raids in August. I reminded him there's rummage sales, vegetable beds, yardwork and a job search that have to take priority on my time. I tried to prepare him for the possibility this might not be achieved although I am trying to make it happen.
During court Dorcas Whitecap was asked to join the Order of the Pelican for her long-standing efforts in field-heraldry and Master Gawain of Miskbridge was offered an augmentation of arms for his years of service to the kingdom. Since we hadn't gotten our names in for feast in time we joined other MagMorons in seeking our supper and ended up at a Chinese buffet.
