MONDAY

Spent the day keeping myself moving, tried to pick up the prescriptions again (Insurance still not picking up, have to call and straighten this out), spent considerable time at University Library working job searches, and spent the evening stitching the sample fabrics into strips to work into the Mission quilts (no tops actually finished though).  Drooping at 11:00 so headed off to bed... which is super early for me these days.

TUESDAY

Wide awake at 7:30, kept Joey the cat company all morning while Leofwyna was sleeping.  Made several phonecalls regarding exchequer, ride to Kris Kinder, and insurance for my prescription.  When Leofwyna left for a half day at work I spent the afternoon waiting for the phone to ring.  The Insurance carrier was supposed to call back about the coverage so I could get my prescription.  At 4:30 I gave up on that and went outside to hang the hoses in the garage and pull the Obedience plants out of the front flower bed; a lovely mild day.  This evening I finished two more Mission quilt tops.  Heading off to bed at 11:30 again... could we be developing a new, good habit?

WEDNESDAY

There was half an inch of snow on the ground when I woke at 7:30 this morning, spent a quiet morning while Leofwyna slept.  Whipped through the dishes so she could work on her Raspberry Jelly this afternoon.  I headed out to try to pick up the prescription, hit some thrift stores (found nice Isotoner slippers, a stick mixer, a white shell, and several pieces for gold key stuff [I'll be making britches, byzantine tunic,  more shirts]).  Picked up Sash to go to A&S where Natalya gave us excellent suggestions on handling documentation for our A&S entries.  Her notebook is very impressive for logical documentation.  Headed off to bed at 11:30... at this rate I'll be in good shape at 6am Saturday morning to go to Kris Kinder.

Hi!

I'm curious about these Mission quilt tops you're finishing regularly. What pattern are you using and where do they end up going.

I like to do piece work, but have trouble doing the actual quilting bit of quilting.

I've got vague plans for a stained glass quilt because there isn't any actual quilting involved; I just need to figure out which of my stash to use and be in the mood. I've felt more like beading, knitting, and crocheting of late.

Good luck with the raspberry jelly! I made wild raspberry jam this summer and am planning on giving it (and the blackberry and strawberry jams) as Xmas prezzies. Each of my immediate relatives are getting a food gift basket from us with homemade goodies.

After I've spent many hours and days peeling or cutting away the paper from fabric samples I sort the pieces according to width and then stitch them up in columns 80-90 inches long and then sew the columns together. I take no serious thought to color combinations or technique because I've been told to make these ugly. Apparently pretty quilts disappear at the receiving areas into the black market or something; only the homely quilts make it to the needy. These make very sturdy and sometimes stiff quilts but as they may be used as sunshades or groundcovers rather than body coverings that's fine.

Later when I get to work with the cotton samples that are finer fabrics I'll make planned, pretty quilts but those will stay in the States for moneyraisers here. The ladies who finish up the Mission quilts still need to buy thread, needles, sometimes batts and so forth so the pretty moneyraisers help them with this.

Since I'm terminally broke even when the economy is good this is my major charitable arena.

We all have fun with the insurance companies, don't we?

I wonder if Natalya would be interested in sharing her documentation knowledge with us down here? I'm juggling a few people who would like to enter A & S contests, but don't feel that they know enough. You suppose she'd give us a hand down here?

Looking forward to seeing you at Kris Kinder. Drive safe now!

Forwarded this entry to Natalya just now. She's going to Kris Kinder also so perhaps you can reinforce this thought there too.
