1pm up and out to library and lunch. Back for computer time until Magmor social time. Discussion about cattle raids was very reassuring to me as most seem to agree it's too soon to be doing that and Gyda is taking it under advisement. After sundown we drove out north to see if we could spot the 6900-year comet. The high sky was perfectly clear but a hazy horizon prevented. I'm thinking if the sky is clear Friday or Saturday I'll talk her into trying again. Back at home at the sewing table finished the second sniglet top for Aurora.
Sunday I headed out by myself.  First stop was a Morgana's to review catfood instruction.  I stopped at the south Goodwill where I found seven packets of thread.  I spent a little time on the computer at the library and then picked out a new audio book for the car.  'Curbing' on the way home I was delighted to find birch logs which we had wished for to use for pollinator habitats.  Back at home I got another log cabin sett assembled and bordered. I have one last sett to work up for the Kronberg group, then I can go on to something new.  We topped off the day with a late night attempt to view Orionid meteors (no luck) and a short stint 'curbing' where Leofwyna spotted one pile to check and came away with a few odds and ends which included an unopened bag of catfood.
Thursday I returned Chris' call to confirm the house/dog sitting job after Christmas.  I tried to call WSI hall about extending the reservation to the whole building, and again I'm having trouble getting through to him so will have to continue to try tomorrow.  This evening I painted the final green in Leofwyna's room while she was gone to her household evening.  Tonight we intend to get out of the edge of town to check on the Geminid meteor showers.
Good grief! Where has this week disappeared to? The heat index stays in the triple digits, even at night the air is heavy with it. With all the heat I did lots of quiet sitting downstairs, either at the computer or cutting up white cotton scraps to add to my quilting box.

TUESDAY

I got out and drove this afternoon, listening to an audio book as I went, Chieviarri's The Lost Quilter. I wasn't going anywhere, just driving to be doing something I guess.

WEDNESDAY

Of course, I went to moot 'cause there was to be a review of plans for Cattle Raids at the end of the month. Thedrich was there to pass his budget through the finance committee, too. I'm comfortable that things are coming together and our event will be good.

THURSDAY

I read on the internet today that the Persead meteor shower should peak tonight. After midnight we drove north and west of town to get out from under some cloud cover, just like we had to do late last fall for another meteor shower which wasn't nearly as satisfactory as this one turned out. We found a quiet country road and went to a high point to set up our lawn chairs and watched the skies for about half an hour. We both saw approximately a dozen, some we both saw and others only one or the other spotted. As predicted, they were coming every 2-3 minutes I think... we probably missed some... but it was good this time.
MONDAY

Headed across town to get a blood draw done so there'll be no problem filling prescriptions next month. My veins had gone fugitive however; the gals poked in both arms until I said I'd be back later in the week. I'll drink an extra big glass of water Thursday morning before I go which may help the situation. They wanted to stab the hands but I said, no hands, uh-uh.

I stopped in at the south Goodwill where I found a great cotton teal-aqua border print skirt that'll make a great background fabric for a Nadelstern quilt; sort of a fireworks at night scene. I yearn to get back to quilting so perhaps the sewing area has a chance of getting pulled together this fall. Other bloggers I follow get their sewing areas redone in a month or two so I must just be really slow in this regard.

Tonight Leofwyna wanted to see the Leonid Meteor shower but we were overcast here. Watching the weather report on TV it looked like the system line was just north and west of us so we decided to go out looking for clear skies around 1am. About 45 minutes later we were looking at very bright stars in a fairly clear sky and we both thought we saw a couple different meteors so we settled in for the show. It was blessed cold and not another single meteor did we see during the next half an hour so we headed home and I was in bed by 3am.
