Tuesday morning we got a little rain and things cooled down for a gloriously beautiful day.  I got to pick up the car.  They'd underestimated by $260!  I put it on the credit card and was releaved it was accepted.  I've been slicing up the stack of cutters, including the greens and creams I'd sorted out for a quilt in time for a Christmas project.  I'll be lucky if it's a top in time but that would be something to wrap at least and I could quilt it into the new year.  Rather fitting actually since she has two graduation present quilt tops she's never gotten quilted up.
Monday I dealt with laundry and caught up with email and blog postings.  It was a lovely day out and I should have been taking advantage of that but...  well, I just didn't.  I used the first of the squash (acorn) for supper with the sprial ham Leofwyna picked up.  I also cooked up the beets and she put some of them into some reserved pickle juice..  Upon smelling said beets cooking I wsa reminded that I really don't like beets.  I had thought maybe I had matured and could develop a taste for them but I don't think it's going to happen.

Tuesday I ran stash cuttings through the wash and ended up with three basketfuls ready to iron.  At supper we had a discussion about my job hunting and forced 'early retirement' and the status of the mortgage.  I don't like the present status quo but we're dealing with it and I'm still looking for work.
TUESDAY

Basically much of my day was a repeat of yesterday, except I called the bank to cut off monthly checks to Worldworks and called Worldworks to arrange my refund. I also encountered the winter chill as I made a run to the grocery store, so I guess I'm starting the countdown for spring already, brrr. Oddly, I don't usually do that until AFTER Christmas.
MONDAY

Yay, the TIAA-CREF money is in the bank; checks for the creditors can clear and all is good with my world. Now all I need is a job with benefits to complete the goodness. I already know I can avoid doing the retirement thing this coming year and wait until I'm 66 for better monthly checks. I'm very much relieved about this.
WEDNESDAY

Made numerous phonecalls trying to deal with TIAA-CREF and the creditors. I think progress was made; won't know for sure until maybe Monday but I think it's done. This tied me up the entire day so during the evening I put the binding on the quilt although the quilting isn't entirely finished. I'll have to borrow it back to get that completed. It is looking very good though and I'm thinking of doing that pattern again with a different background.

THURSDAY

Packed and loaded up this morning and got on the road around noon. I worked on hemming down the binding on the quilt the whole way and got about halfway 'round. We got into Kansas City in time to go to the Nelson-Adkins for a few hours. We went through the second floor pretty thoroughly. Our favorites were the illuminations with the gorgeous goldleaf. We ate our favorite Thai lettuce wraps and Farfalle at the Cheesecake factory before going to find a room for the night. I was able to get the third side of the quilt binding done before we tucked in for the night.

FRIDAY

We hit Savers, a quilt shop and a couple scrapbooking shops during the afternoon. When we got from one end of town to the other we learned our other Savers, and a couple other places on our list were closed/gone. We had thought we might stop back at the Nelson-Adkins but with the rain we thought we'd need more time to get to Columbia and we were right; an accident on I-70 held us up for an hour for about 15 miles. We were glad when we were finally clear of that and able to get up to speed. We got to Columbia, checked in our motel and went to find supper around 8pm. I got the binding completed on the quilt and worked on the quilting until 3am. It's still not completely done but at least it's symetrical with two of the borders nearly done.

SATURDAY

A gentle, slow start to the day with waffles in the lobby, wrapping up the quilt and dressing for the wedding. Our Lady of Lourdes is a beautiful building, the chorus was great, and the ceremony was wonderful. The day continued with dinner and reception at a nearby Knights of Columbus where we learned of the backstories of the day. Gale and Kate have to stay in town a couple days to deal with getting the license and having a civil ceremony to complete the marriage; apparently there was a 'failure to communicate' as it were and it was a close call for the Saturday ceremony to carry on.

SUNDAY

We took our time starting the day but was up in time for waffles again before heading out. We stopped in at a small town along the way back with a block of antique shops and browsed our way through them. Back in Kansas City we were looking for used furniture stores as Leofwyna wanted something with drawers for her SCA clothes. After a long drive out of our way to a place that was closed we found the Flea Market where we were in luck and she found a nice five drawer piece for $40. We stopped for a BBQ supper before heading on home.

Od must have taken excellent care of Maggie as she scarcely scolded us for our absence.
TUESDAY

Got up to the alarm clock to walk with Sash at Antelope Park. We hope to develop a twice weekly habit and keep it up through the winter, weather allowing. We're well matched for stride and condition so if we can do this we should be in much better shape by spring. As I get into shape I may be walking myself on the weekends as well... maybe.

Leofwyna got put on-call tonight so she's talking about leaving town Thursday instead of Friday. She wants to go to the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City. This puts some pressure on me to get some things taken care of in one day instead of two and the 'things' aren't cooperating much. Tomorrow is going to be uber-tight cause some of it can't wait until next week.

The quilting continues. I need to find a box and get wrapping paper. I need to bind it tomorrow regardless. I should get a documentation label done. There's no doubt I'll need to borrow the quilt back after the wedding to finish quilting the last six inch of borders around three sides.
WEDNESDAY

Decided to skip the archery tourney and keep at the quilt. Leofwyna brought KFC home after spending time at Shelly's. I won the contact on FreeCycle for a bag with beans and some canned stuff.

THURSDAY

Picked up the bags... turned out they left out two grocery bags of stuff. I can use the beans, Life cereal, cans of tomato salsa, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, salmon and beef with gravy. Will pass on a partial bag of vegan soups and seasoned rice things. I put supper together tonight while Leofwyna ran her errands and we watched a DVD movie, The Holiday, which we'd missed in the theater. It was a good one worth watching again if we can get a better (non-skipping) copy.

FRIDAY

Picked up a 'manager's special' pork roast to put in the crock pot; thinking I'll Spanish it up with a can of the salsa.

Made contact with State Farm for a check on the scrapped fender this week. Made contact with Tiaa-Cref about some retirement funds to keep me going while I continue looking for work.

Quilting... quilting... quilting. I am making some good progress; maybe it'll be really done in another eight days.
TUESDAY

Read an interesting book on the Internet on dumpster diving. What with the finances and job situation I'm considering this... seriously.

Meanwhile I scored a connect on FreeCycle for some beans and canned stuff. No doubt I'll be eating chili and other beanie dishes this winter.
