Sep. 11th, 2010 12:49 amGot the lost and found list sent out to the Calonlist and MagMor. Made arrangements for it all to go with the baron this weekend and then I'll take what's left to coronation next weekend. Hopefully that will take care of the most of it. Unloaded the service totes into the garage so I can check through them before taking them to the storage unit.
Back at home I noticed the top third of the young elm tree the city put in approximately five years ago is broken over. Called the city for Forestry to come out and deal with the damage and they're saying the tree will probably have to come down, although the city is no longer putting in replacement trees. They'd give us a $50 voucher and leave it for us to deal with replacing it; a ludicrous suggestion I thought. Leofwyna and I decided I'd call again tomorrow and tell them we'll deal with the tree ourselves so we can keep as much as possible of the one we have.
And tonight Leofwyna and I spent television watching time pricing several boxes of rummage items.
FRIDAY
Ding-dong, it's 9am and the city tree inspector is on our doorstep. Will look at the tree, what, we want to keep it? No problem, they'll just trim it up. Well, that's a relief.
All the promised thunder storms and rain haven't manifested this last week. Today is damp but not really quite raining.
I was successful in laying claim to a Rubbermade closet on Freecycle to use for Gold Key. It needs some repairs but I think it'll be more useful to have outfits on display on hangers instead of in so many tubs.
Ran the lost and found over to Sash, apparently just in time as they were already heading out the door to leave an hour earlier than Sash had indicated to me.
A stop at the Family Thrift store downtown scored four panels of wonderful red and gold drapes that will become a really wonderful outfit. It's very seldom I find such that aren't monochromatic AND without the rubber surface on the wrong side. Possibilities abound... decisions... decisions... This also means I can dump a couple other things I've picked up over the years in desparation; this is so much better than anything else I've ever found.
I sent Leofwyna off to work in my car so I could load the baronial serving tubs in the van after I'd checked them over to make sure nothing was weird.
And the elm tree has already been trimmed up. And a good thing too; Leofwyna and I up on ladders cutting down the treetop isn't a restful mental image. The lady at city really needs to get a better idea of how the inspector and his crews deal so she doesn't get citizens all upset unnecessarily. I'm just sayin'!
Leofwyna has made the observation that the leaves on this elm tree aren't looking too good, but it's supposed to be the resistant kind so what gives. Anyway, we need to do some research to see if we can spray it with something... or something.
