Up and on laptop. While Leofwyna was out and about this afternoon Isabeau called and asked to borrow the serger. When they came over to pick it up Leofowyna invited them to stay for supper. While she grilled her lemony porkchops I showed Isabeau how Ancestry.com works on one of her family. Promised Carlos to do some of his another time. Before and after supper we played Mexican Train dominoes which I won. Poor Trinket had a long wait for their return.

Busy, busy, busy... watered half the yard, deadheaded the peonies and caught up with dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. Then it was already time to head over to Leofwyna's dinner party where she was housesitting. She takes advantage of the big kitchen, gas grill and nice dining room as part of her benefits on this job. Toli and Shelly were there and we spent the evening playing Balderdash. I also helped her walk the dogs before I headed home.

Went and got a haircut today from the only person I've ever found who can forestall a nasty little cowlick. I don't always go to her 'cause I think it would be good to find someone younger eventually who might be around longer. My usual gal is so often gone visiting grandbabies or helping grown daughters move and it's only a matter of time before she chucks it all over at work. At moot this evening it sounded like everyone was ready for Cattle Raids this weekend so I anticipate a good time for everyone.
THURSDAY
Got it in gear to mow part of the yard... the rest will have to wait. The crabgrass will run amok I fear. Rosa and Kat stopped by for a check for deliveries tomorrow. Had a nice little visit with them about job hunts and gardens. Then pulled things together prepratory for loading tomorrow. Here's hoping the small sunshade will hold up for another event. I'll have to look it over good while it's set up to see where it may need work.
FRIDAY
Will be heading off to Cattle Raids in a moment or two. I start sitting troll at six and I still need to stop at the bank for the cashbox change. I'll be staying over in one of the cabins tonight. I hope to have all kinds of good things to tell about the weekend when I get home.
Leofwyna's Dinner Party

Decided to forego returning to the quilters' rummage to check out bargains on its last day today - yay me!
While I was having problems logging into Internet Leofwyna stopped in to put her cake in the oven here so not to heat up the other house. While here she suggested I shouldn't 'waste' a beautiful August afternoon so I mowed the lawn today instead of doing it sometime the next couple days as I'd planned. Also deadheaded her roses and daylilies. Tried to balance getting something done and saving something for tonight too.
LATER
Leofwyna grilled suvlaki and had dirty rice, fresh corn, tomatoes and finished with angelfood cake with strawberries. Owain was a no-show and sister backed out 'cause she wasn't feeling up to the drive down from Omaha. Toli and Sabina was there, the meal was (of course) great, and we had fun playing Bamboozled. What a great evening! Afterwards Leofwyna and I walked the dogs and I helped her empty the dishwasher so she could load it tonight.

Temperatures hovering around 100 today but I fully intended to get at least the back yard mowed. Leofwyna made blueberry muffins for brunch and I made scrambled eggs to go with 'em. Neighbors with new puppy brought over corn for us and stayed awhile to visit. By that time we were ready to eat again and decided to make a run to Golden Corral. When we got back I did up three days worth of dishes and husked the corn for Leofwyna to prepare for freezing. Hopefully tomorrow will be a schosh cooler for the mowing.
