I quickly made arrangements to drop the Ford at Auto Service to check on the rumbling sound ... want this car to last a lo-o-ong time. We were heading up to Omaha again. While Leofwyna ran some errands I started packing fox and dragon figurines, wind chimes and electronics. After a supper run to Whole Foods for lobster bisque, three salads and chocolate-orange torte I was packing the office-and-library closet... cookbooks, paperbacks, more electronic stuff, financial records and office supplies. Gotta say I was tired enough to sleep well on that sofa bead.
SATURDAY
Leofwyna woke me with the news she'd already been on the phone and folks were coming to help load the big furniture into a rental truck. As we hadn't gotten it yet we skipped breakfast to hurry up the street to get that before the help showed up. One-and-a-quarter hour later we had the furniture loaded into the truck and were saying a thankful farewell to Little Sister's friends who had come on such short notice to help us accomplish this. Very shortly after another couple of her friends arrived and helped us clear the garage into the moving truck too. I'm glad Leofwyna got all their names written down 'cause I can't remember 'em at all.
We drove up to Lincoln right away hoping to beat the weather as snow has been indicated. I drove Leofwyna's van while she drove the rental truck. I'm glad she had some experience driving Dad's RV as I'd be uncomfortable about driving something so large. After a few quick phonecalls Murdoch, Emilye, Toli, Sabina and Volkmar came to help us unload. We rousted Marty out too and he was valuable in getting sliding glass doors unmounted and remounted to facilitate getting large couches in and out.
Oh yes, I suggested swapping out the tapestry couches while we had the man power present and before burying said furniture under piles of Little Sister's possessions in the garage. As it turned out the dresser and mirror wouldn't fit and Leofwyna was delighted to drop it at the local Salvation Army (she thinks it ugly and unsaleable for our rummage; I consider it structurally sound and someone will want it anyway). We turned in the rental with only five-and-a-half hours on the clock and finally went to have something to eat.
Also, thanks to Toli, Little Sister's monitor is downstairs and all hooked up to the computer and we are online at home again, yay! This also makes Joey happy to have his lap available sooner and longer. Once we have the living room cleared it's going to look real fine with the new tapestry furniture and the Baristers Cabinet in place. (Nothing was said at this time about the furniture exchange we want to do downstairs and now it can't happen until things are organized better in the garage. Perhaps not until after the rummage sale this spring even. I mean, the garage is FULL!)
