Wednesday and Thursday were spent quietly at Halsey State Forest. We had a pretty campsite right on the Middle Loop River and there we stayed. Wednesday night a thunderstorm rolled through with pouring rain and went on an on well into the night. Fortunately we were done with supper and even had time for a campfire. Thursday there was no sign of the rain (sandy soil) though the river was a bit higher. We played scrabble in the afternoons and for a change I was beating her two out of three games. In fact in one game I used all the tiles twice and really trounced her big-time. Friday we were loaded up and heading home by way of North Platte and Kearney, stopping a their Goodwill stores along the way. I got a pair of white sandals at one and little plastic drawers at another. I passed up a beautiful compost sifter I would have nearly killed for before I gave up the garden this year. We pulled in around ten and watched the final bit of Survivor before bed. I worked on the silk tunic
