etienettebluetMonday I went out and pulled the weeds on the last two veggie beds so it was ready when Joe came Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon I shreaded a couple tight bushels of paper for one of the new beds and was ready when Joe arrived to sift the dirt from the weeded beds into one of the new beds. He'll be back again Saturday morning and we'll start harvesting from the compost piles next. I've gotta say my shoulders and the backs of my legs are sore and tight so I'm down for the evening.
One little excitement happened Monday while I was pulling weeds. Discovered a two-inch long preying mantis! That's only the second one I've ever seen... the first being approx. 20 years ago in our cherry tree. With it's cooperation and a long stick, I moved it to one of this year's active veggie beds. Maybe it will decimate the squash beetles there.
