Aug. 20th, 2019 02:13 amMonday (11:00) up and out to get the lawnmower... it's not ready until mid-next-week... maybe. Lunch and library computer next. Just finished reading Dray and Kamoie's My Dear Hamilton. Found some comparisons in the political morass to what's going on now and perhaps can feel some hope we'll get through this now as they did then. We've got more than 200 years experience in democracy that they didn't.
From the farewell address Hamilton wrote for the retiring Washington and quoted in this book...
"Properly estimate the immense value of your National Union to your happiness and to your political safety and prosperity, watching for its preservation with jealous anxiety; discountenancing any who suggest it can be abandoned; and indignantly frowning upon every attempt to alienate any portion of the country from the rest."
