Thursday I got laundry out of the way and since it did not rain I was able to mow Friday.  The ground was still rather wet in the back so I only did south and west of the house leaving the rest to do Saturday afternoon.  Leofwyna came out to tie up branches and cleaned up the roses and periwinkles,  The daffidils and forsythia are done for the year but the violet tulips and snowdrops acriss the front are looking good.  The city came and took out the nasty black elm tree so now we have a hole.  We're thinking about what kind of sapling to invest in as we still want some sort of tree on the west side.  At the sewing table I've been putting together a multi-colored strip pieced border using one of the smaller phone books as a piecing base.  I sorted all the short pieces from the 1 1/2 inch strip drawer to use.
