Apr. 29th, 2013

Saturday I finished painting the closet shelves, pulled nails from a pile of trim, unloaded the Gold Key totes and washed up a pile of dishes.  Such pretty weather we're having.  Unfortunately there's another cold front coming so no point putting in seedlings as yet.

Sunday I went over to help friends move some of their stuff from one storage unit to another since I missed helping them with the apartment move a couple weeks ago.  Leofwyna got up a little early so we could take advantage of an opportunity to go to Sam's as part of a hospital workers invitation.  We stocked up on kitty litter, laundry soap, vitamins and the like. Also found a rain barrel which I'll install on the southeast corner of the house.  It will serve a double purpose preventing accidental flooding in the basement (as occasionally the downspout extension drops away and we don't always see it for the flower plants there) and I'll use it to water the plantings when its dry.  This evening I whipped up a 'tabard' for a sock puppet for Ingaborg's Pennsic puppet war project.
Monday morning Leofwyna was having trouble getting to sleep so I was super quiet all afternoon in order not to accidently rouse her.  When she did get up we both went out into the lovely late day to get some work done.  She's still painting trim for her room and I started clearing and turning my veggie beds.  Three of the old beds are done; I'll leave the fourth fallow yet awhle to see if volunteer ground cherries appear.

[July NOTE: About a dozen volunteer ground cherries, not counting the slow starters that got pulled with the weeds. I transplanted one clump of four successfully, making a better spacing of them. Leofwyna potted up a couple poorly spaced plants to pass along to a friend.}
