SATURDAY
We have first snow of the season. And the wind... OMG, with this wind any more snow than we have would have been a real blizzard! And cold, the wind chill index tonight was listed at -10. The only time I've been out since Thursday has been to the mailbox. I'm glad I've got my genealogy adventures to keep me amused for the time being.
For many years, since I've started doing this, Dad's ancestors were his parents and grandparents, all Danish. I never really expected to get more than this and concentrated on Mom's side of the family. This last week, however, I've been following several branches of Dad's family tree back into this Danish side and finding Swedish, Norse and German also. Got back to the 15th century in one branch.
Tonight when I went back into Mom's side again I was able to extend her Roper branch by a single generation. This was, oddly enough, just as big an excitment as I've conjectured this to be the branch with potential Native American blood. This on the basis of a photo of great-grandfather and his siblings; oh those complections and those cheekbones!
SUNDAY
Put beef in the crockpot with coconut milk and peanut sauce again. So simple but oh so good with rice and carrots. It's another good day to stay in and play with the genealogy on the computer.
