Tuesday I got a phonecall I'd never anticipated from the first person I dated way back in the day.  We had a nice conversation and he invited me to meet up with him for lunch sometime.  I told him I'd think about it and he'll call again before he comes to town later this month.  We had dated for several months when we were sixteen and were going steady.  We broke up when he went out with someone else and he never tried to make up with me after that.  Now he's saying he'd always regretted messing up with me.

Why not do it? There is something special about touching bases with friends that knew you when you were 16. It's also a good opportunity to make sure that the karma is all okay. Perhaps he is feeling like that his actions were regrettable and he'd like to tell you so in person.

I probably will. My initial inclination was not to, but on further reflection I've gradually shifted to, oh hell, why not.
