Monday Leofwyna had a contractor in to measure the floors for a bid.  I'd planned to finally get the camp gear put up but pulled something in my back before I even got started.  Instead I very carefully got supper grilled and spent some evening time sewing on the pieced undertunic.  Leofwyna marked the length for me to hem; all that's left is armhole facings.

Tuesday I was working the 13th Century Ws; I'll be in the 12th Century very soon now.
Saturday I got on the ball and did my laundry which pretty much tied up the entire afternoon.  I've been harvesting a few tomatoes fairly regularly.  Their skins are tough and I'm thinking I should be watering more often... my bad!  I pretty much decided not to go around to the Goodwills this weekend for the 99-cent sales.  I hardly need to add to the piles of stuff around here and I'm more aware of them since we're packing things up for the renovation.  Since they do these sales one weekend nearly every month I can wait until August for the next one.

Sunday I bailed on the baronial archery event.  I never did decide about a dish for feast and when it came time to dress and go I procrastinated.  Once I realized I'd probably only go for court it seemed silly to drive that far so I ran some errands instead.  Tonight while watching Olympics I finished the ecru linen shift and got back to work on a shirt-pieces linen shift.  So far I've put pieces from four shirts/blouses into this shift and will probably do most of a fifth to finish it.
Thursday I went through the Gold Key totes and sorted out some belts, a couple adult t-tunics and the 2-3 child's garmets we have to use at JAV.  I left the totes empty to pack the camera garb into and piled the Gold Key on the side table in the garage.   I'm definitely going to need to get more totes for this stuff.  I was supposed to deall with fastening tabs on everything but I got distracted by the gold and red-orange and made up a herald's tabard of part of it and hemmed the big rectangle for an additional table throw.  Leofwyna came out and got the 'closet legs' down out of the rafters and we cleared the two tubs of river rock and a couple dozen moving boxes out of the back of the van so I can use it this weekend.
Friday and Saturday I'm working on three cotton organdy partlets.  Never thought they'd take so long but the organdy is fiddly and I don't have any pattern and have to invent them as I go.  Saturday I took time to go to the fabric store for velcro, chiffon and heavy pellon.  I'll be doing a couple hennins next and making sure everything already done has fastenings in the back.
Wednesday I went and got a haircut, started sewing a lattice pattern doublet and, mowed the outer verges and the backyard.  Leofwyna reported a weather threat of heavy hail as she left for work so instead of finishing with the front yard I cleared the garage to put the car in.  Fortunately the worst of the storm passed north of us so my garden was saved from that stress.  Thursday I set part of the sewing back up in the garage and worked on the camara garb, finishing the lattice patterned doublet, a bronze stripe silk "skirt" and remaking the heavy blue skirt from the Gold Key Tudor outfit.   Friday I sorted and packed for the weekend.  We were loaded up and on the road around four and pulled in to the motel around ten.  While on the road I'd worked on handstitching the lace on the magenta silk dress for the camera booth and got that finished.

The event this weekend was Kingdom A&S and included an equestrian competition.  Natalya's snow sculpture project was really quite impressive and she was successful in having an actual 'freezer-saved snow' sculpture on-site.  Otherwise my favorites were a lovely trestle table, a gorgeous illumination, and a Persian themed dance, garb and party food combination entry.  A whiz-bang storm cut outdoor activities short late in the afternoon; Isadora had wanted to authorize for equestrian but that was cancelled.  The storm blew through quickly and by time court was done and we were getting ready to leave the rain had mostly drained away.  We pulled back in at home around 1am

Sash has given me four yards of really nice off-white linen... just right for a new undertunic.  This will call for some hand embroidery I think.  Reminds me I still need to make up the brown linen I bought at Lilies last year.  I wanted to embroider that with cherries, reminiscent of the scroll I received the previous year.   Which also reminds me I have that red linen for an undertunic for the mustard caftan.  I've really gotta get on the ball!
When Leofwyna got up Sunday I suggested a movie so we went to see The Lucky One which was a visually stunning in addition to having an interesting story portrayed by excellent actors.  We were both very pleased with this one.  I  didn't do any sewing Sunday since it was gray and chilly all day but I put in two full days sewing Monday and Tuesday.  Belinda and her mom stoppedby this afternoon while they were walking and I was sewing to see what was shaping up.
Saturday was good with Natalya and Isadora sewing most of the day with me.  Belinda stopped by to see what was progressing for awhile in the afternoon.  I finished the partlet I found in Sash's scraps awhile back then put together ruffs with linen bands and the golden plastic lace which will wear up very well (no drooping).  I may even appropriate one to wear with my green irish.  Natalya worked on kids' stuff and Isadora made hats.  Leofwyna reports she slept soundly; didn't hear anything at all.

I had thought to accomplish something further during the evening but I totally crumped... I napped, then forced myself to deal with getting something to eat.  I even went to bed a little earlier than usual and slept solidly tto 10.  Turns out we were lucky with the dry weather and temps Saturday 'cause it's chilly, grey and drizzling again Sunday.
Naturally since I watered Thursday it rained last night and again today.  Well, the grass and trees needed it and I won't have to deal with hoses for a week.  I hit up the Goodwill 99-cent sales and found a few things, I also found a brocade drape that wasn't on sale but will be great for the faux-garb.  I almost bought a black fur hat but decided $10 was a bit much.  I did get the jewelry case in the shape of a drop-front desk for Maude.  I'll have to get rid of a couple other little pieces of her furniture to make room for it but the scale is better.

I dug out some more stuff for tomorrow's sewing day but still haven't found the foot pedal for the sewing machine.  I can use the 301 Singer but I wanted to have the Necchi set up if someone else didn't have one and needed to run up a seam or something.  I CANNOT figure where it might have gotten to; I know I used it at the table in front of the TV before I shifted the machine to the sewing area last month... it has to be there somewhere fallen into some box or other...
Wednesday after moot Volkmar put on the gambeson and it fit perfectly!  I'm cleared to go ahead on the other two but that'll be later... but before Lilies.  Next up is a jacket repair for Joe and six faux garments for JAV photo ops.

Thursday afternoon I put the plastic back over the winter bed for a couple nights; I'm carefully watching the weather reports for this.  I've made a list of things I need to do in hopes I'll be motivated to get things crossed off said list.  I'm truly in a lazy mode recently and need to find my way out of it.  Spring is here and I'd really like to stay on top of things this year.
Tuesday I spent an hour outside putting back the plastic on the winter bed, clearing dead foliage and finding a surprising amount of new growth coming in on kale and chard.  The carrots are healthy and nearly two inches long but thin.  It's supposed to rain Wednesday and not freeze overnight until Thursday so I'm leaving the plastic off a couple days.  I finally got on the ball and put together the first of Volkmar's gambesons.  It surely does take longer to assemble because of two layers of cotton batt and two layers of duck.  I thought binding the edges could limit bulk but that took longer than expected as well.  Well, at least I can deliver it to Isadora at moot so it can be packed to go to Gulf.
I picked up a CD of An Echo in the Bone (Gabaldon) at the library to listen to on the drive down to Missouri and back this weekend.  I do love to listen to Davina Porter's readings of Gabaldon's books so I was 'specially glad to find it available.  I managed to get myself pulled together and organized enough potential projects to get to Bobbin' and Weavin' Frida.  I finished the sewing I needed to do for Joe's work in my garden last summer.  Turned out I was able to get only one item from the blue linen but both the blue and the russet tunics turned out looking pretty good.  I also made up a pair of russet plaid trousers for him; to kinda apologize for taking so long getting it all done.  I had taken a tote full of Gold Key projects along too but I only got one maroon tunic done for that.  I pulled into Lincoln Sunday at 5:18 and stopped in at site for the All Thing the barony was holding but everyone was already gone and the room locked up and dark.  I guess they were done more quickly then they'd thought..
Thursday and Friday I concentrated mainly on genealogy with sidetrips in housekeeping and grocery shopping.

Saturday I loaded up the sewing machine and headed over to Isadora's for Ingaborg's largess sewing afternoon.  I mainly concentrated on hemming napkins while the others worked on tabards.  I put down the napkins long enough to whip up a mini-tabard for Ingaborg's teddy bear.  I swung by Sash's hoping to drop off the ten napkins I'd completed in hopes of dropping them off for embroidery.  Even though lights were on and there were vehicles in the drive no one was there so I'll have to make the trip across town another day to deliver them.
Wednesday morning I stopped in at a couple thrift stores and picked up groceries.  In the evening I went to the moot meeting where our future events of Baronial A&S, Yule Court, Winter War Maneuvers and possibly Queen's Prize since we didn't get the Coronation bid.  Afterward at Red Robin since the outside tables were opted by the group I opted to leave and head on home.  Last week that was fine with slightly higher temps, but it was just that much cooler and I was in short sleeves and sandals.

It sounds like I might have a good turn out for sewing Saturday so I'm planning on putting up the sunshade and camp tables in addition to the tables in the garage.

Thursday I pushed the tables together in the garage, swept up the leaves and carried sewing machines, folding chairs and ironing boards up from downstairs.  Joe stopped by to pick up his repaired jacket ($20) and drop of another jacket.  When Leofwyna left for an evening with her household I did up the dishes and emptied the refrigerator for a thorough clean-up .
Saturday Leofwyna and I day-tripped Cattle Raids. I had signed us up for troll shifts and then she signed up to help with the inn so I took care of both troll shifts myself. No problem there, I got to greet lots of friends that way. During the afternoon Master Sashatec took on a fourth apprentice, Killian, so now we three girls have a brother. Boy-howdy, do we have plans for him!

Since feast was for such a limited number Leofwyna and I took along our own supper and took some quiet time (it was a beautiful day for it) to put up our feet, read and eat. We were staying to help clean up the hall and kitchen after feast. There were piles and piles of trays, bowls and leftovers to be dealt with. Washing up was finally finished about 12:30am and we headed for home.

Joe likes the fit of his new green tunic so well that when he left event he left the tunic so I can be sure to duplicate it with the rusty-red linen. Plans for the blue linen is for narrow short-sleaved tunics... I think there may be enough to do two that way and he'll like having them for camp garb. He'll probably want a couple more pair of pants but I think he's got enough tunics to last him several years.

Since Leofwyna was scheduled for work Sunday night she stayed up as long as she could to get back on her sleep schedule. As she slept ten hours through the day I'd say she did very well indeed. I went over three times during the afternoon and evening to let Sami out as we're dog-sitting three days while his people are out of town. We miss Bailey, sweet girl that she was, but it is a lot easier with just the one... and Sami is more cooperative both on leash and in the back yard than Bailey ever was.
Monday I finished the yellow tunic. I put a nice bit of narrow inkle trim on it; looks real fine. Joe called to confirm working on the yard Tuesday, IF it doesn't rain tonight. I think this will be the last work I'll get in this trade so I want to be sure to put him to good use. I'll hold off on starting the rust or blue tunics until after he tries on these finished ones to check the fit. Leofwyna got put 'on call' tonight so we've been catching up on program tapes this evening.
Sunday afternoon I got out and finished sifting the last old veggie bed and leveling it. The new beds still need lots and I don't think the compost is going to produce enough. Perhaps I should just go buy a few bags of dirt for one new bed so I can get some stuff planted in at least the one winter bed.
After supper I went back to Joe's sewing, putting a couple buttonholes in the pant's fly and starting on the yellow tunic. Before I knew it it was three o'clock... a.m... ouch!
Friday I was determined to get on the ball sewing up Joe's garb. I did get both pair of pants and a tabard done and the green tunic three-quarters finished. Tried to call Joe to cancel Saturday morning as everything is awfully wet from the several rains we've had the last few days... No luck though so he was at the door earlly Saturday morning; it didn't even occur to him that things might be too wet. I showed him what progress had been done with his linen, sent him off and went back to bed.

I'm still plugging away at the genealogy day by day. I was interested to actually finally hear about the 1940 census which will come out in 2012. Guess I'm going to have to spring for ancestry.com another year to get that posted in my trees.
TUESDAY

Stopped in at the two nearest Goodwills today since it's Tuesday and there's a senior discount and found three belts and a middle eastern style tunic dress, all appropriate to add to Goldkey. Back at home spent the late afternoon and evening sewing up the four white cotton undertunics and re-hemmed the muslin undertunic from Goldkey to have 'em ready for Cattle Raids this month.

WEDNESDAY

Took a couple pieces of fabric I'd picked up last month and got them ready to be worn as Saxon tube dresses. I'll probably keep these for myself but they're ready to be used at Cattle Raids with Goldkey if they're needed.

Got out to visit the half price clothing sale at the thrift store, found a pair of white linen drawstring pants and a purple linen shirt. This evening was A&S where I took advantage to discuss Cattle Raids scheduling with Natalya and Zino.

Back at home I worked on the peach linen open-sided surcoat trying to make it wearable. The seams were so mis-alligned I ended up taking out all the neckline and armhole seams to re-sew it and now it's coming along pretty well actually.

And at the very end of my day we drove half an hour north of town just after midnight to see if any of the northern lights were showing this far south. I'm sorry to report they were not. It was a pretty, clear night though and the stars were splendid.
FRIDAY

This morning I finished my new shift, then put away the sewing stuff. I had offered to take on some of Leofwyna's to do list as she's busy getting ready to leave on her trip in a couple days. Took her van to the mechanic to get the brake lights fixed and stopped at Family Dollar to pick up the list of stuff she'd noted was on sale this week. She'd also noted that my preferred laundry detergent was on sale at Walmart but I'd just as soon wait until it's on sale somewhere else even if it's not as big a price cut; I don't like that place.
WEDNESDAY

Delivered the Runestaff and broccoli to Gyda this morning then spent time this afternoon getting the flyer printed out and duplicated to include in it. This evening I went out to Walt Library park for the social moot and started distributing the Runestaffs. I got to visit with Isadora about noon inn for Cattle Raids; no one else is stepping up for it so she'll probably be doing it. Zino and Vasilla are set to handle MOY.

THURSDAY

Sewed up Leofwyna's skirt and hemmed up the sleaves on her new blue top. Ran out to Hancocks to pick up some black elastic to finish the waist of the skirt. We went to supper at the China Buffet when she came home from Shelly's. Back at home I started sewing up s piece of what I think is linen/cotton for a new shift as a swatch burned to soft ash.
